Multiple Competencies
Case Study
We had an incredibly complicated project that involved engineering, fabrication, erection, and required a City of Los Angeles contractors license.
Client Concern
Customer wanted to install a “statement” clock-tower at their building in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. They needed a supplier that could design, fabricate, permit, and erect this structure.

Excelsior Solution
-
Worked with the customers design team, structural engineer, glass designer, and the City of Los Angeles to obtain permit approval.
-
Fabrication and construction required the use of modeling software and automated cutting (LT8) in order to create the complicated shapes which would be nearly impossible with traditional fabrication methods.
-
Detailed measurements were taken in order to fit onto existing embeds in the building and foundation as well as connect to sub-contractor’s glass panels.
-
Use of trusted sub-contractors allowed the main structure to be transported and installed in one piece to minimize the impact on the customers schedule and the local community.
-
City of Los Angeles approved fabrication shop certificate was obtained.
-
Several field employees obtained City of Los Angeles welding certificates.
Results
After many hour of shutting down a major Los Angeles through-way, the client had a beautiful new landmark in Los Angeles, that both the property owner, and the developer will use to market their property into the future.
